Maldramina Polanco, of Dominican descent, was raised in the upper West Side of Manhattan. A self-taught artist who now feels she has reached the stepping stone through her work to share her dreams and her hopes with those who come to view her art. At the age of eight, she began to doodle, sketch and paint, not realizing that today it would lead her.
She initially begins her artistic process from darker aspects of life; when this emotion is transmitted onto the canvas, we view a realization that life, and innate source of light, in any aspect in life, is always present - a vibrant life force that cannot be suppressed.
Her drawings and her paintings give her the freedom no other medium can provide. Art is the medium that best portrays her joys, fears and concerns. When she completes a painting she feels as if she has shared a part of her world with everyone, a world where she dares to explore the darker, mystical, unexplored aspects of our psyche and bring these to light, transforming this emotion to one of hope, joy and general fun. She strives to inspire those who come to view her work with the intent to create a more esthetic and profound new world.
